Aquaculture in real life

There is no better place to learn about Norwegian aquaculture than by the cages out at sea, where it all happens. We will take you out in a boat to visit a fully operated fish farm where you get a closer look at salmon farming. You can even stand by the cages and watch the salmon jump.

The tour takes about 1.5 hours and is suitable for all ages. The visitors need to be able to enter an open boat and climb a small ladder at the fish farm. The boat departs from Hitra hurtigbåtterminal, which is a short distance of the fish farm.

During the summer season (June 20th - August 20th) we have scheduled trips for individuals, the rest of the year we require a minimum of 4 people. For booking, please send an e-mail to kystmuseet.post@mist.no with requested date of visit and number of visitors. Booking requests will be answered during office hours.
